The Green Knight Economic Development Corporation (GKEDC) is currently working to identify opportunities that would bring new businesses into Pen Argyl, Wind Gap, and Plainfield Township.
GKEDC’s Incentive Program
The Green Knight Economic Development Corporation is in a unique position to provide financial incentives to attract quality new business to the area. In order to accomplish this goal the GKEDC has designed a program that provides incentives for job creation.
By providing incentives based upon job creation, an atmosphere is created to attract more growth-oriented firms. Financial incentives to business owners/employers will be based upon the number and quality of full-time jobs created. Incentives will be calculated on a one-time basis in accordance with a pre-determined employment plan filed with the GKEDC at the start of the program.
Additional incentives may also be offered to assist with start-up costs such as relocation expenses.
Our First Success
One of GKEDC’s proudest achievements is our involvement in the Slate Belt Industrial Center. GKEDC helped to bring Techo-Bloc to our area, which means more jobs for the community. In total, GKEDC contributed in excess of $350,000 toward costs required to build the shell building and attract a buyer. During original negotiations with the developer, GKEDC agreed to provide funds for engineering, marketing, and interest payments for the shell building. Also included was GKEDC’s award to Techo-Bloc: a handsome financial incentive package for relocation and job creation.
Now that the first economic development project has been successful, GKEDC is looking for new sites to develop to bring additional jobs to the area. |
